ABOUT SUSAN

Susan Hiera Bass · MS, ADLC, C-IAYT

In 2003, Susan left a career at The Wall Street Journal after Ayurveda and Yoga saved her life. She went on to study with Dr. Vasant Lad at The Ayurvedic Institute and the Kripalu School of Ayurveda from 2004 to 2015, and earned her Master of Science in Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine from Maharishi International University. She also holds a BA in Mathematics and Psychology from the University of Mississippi.

She founded the Sarasvati Institute in 2015. Today she serves as Adjunct Faculty at the National University of Natural Medicine, where she teaches Ayurvedic Practice, Dietetics, Methods of Evaluation, and Pancha Karma. She collaborates with Kaiser Permanente and UCSF on research using Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy to support breast cancer survivors during recovery.

Susan is the author of Ayurveda: The Genes of God, endorsed by her teacher Dr. Vasant Lad. She is Board Certified through NAMA and IAYT, and holds the C-IAYT and ADLC credentials. Her work is the same as it was at the beginning: to help students remember and integrate the wisdom of the ancients that is already inside of them.

WHAT WE TEACH

Awakening the wisdom of the ancients that is already inside of you.

At Sarasvati we fully embrace both the spiritual roots of Ayurveda and the additions of modern science. Our classes are equal parts spirit and science, taught from the lineage of ancient masters who carried these teachings forward.

Ayurveda is not a body of facts to memorize. It is the practice of integrating and embodying your deep knowing at the level of conscious awareness. Our curriculum is designed to integrate the Vedic concepts at a cellular level, in community with students from around the world.

MEET THE TEACHERS

Embodied practitioners who live Ayurveda.

We hold the highest standards for our teachers. Each one is rooted in the lineage and brings their own specialty to the program.
